Administrative university staff
Just under two-thirds of the administrative staff at the University of Vienna are female. In decentralized administration, the proportion of women is over two-thirds, while in central administration it is around 60 %. Within the individual departments, there is a clear gender gap between general administration and project/organizational assistance and technical administration/IT.
By far the most women are in job group IIIa. A comparison of the four lower and four upper job groups shows that men are on average classified higher than women, even though women are more likely to have a tertiary education qualification. Although men are significantly more likely to work full-time than women, the part-time rate is high compared to the overall population. The age distribution shows that men in particular have a relatively high average age in the administrative staff.
